Intelligence is only one facet of humanity. We are so much more than that, and I'm hoping it will take at least several more generations before AI can replace most of us. My son is working with a financial company that thought they could use Chat GPT AI to create an app they could use, and when that failed, they realized they needed a software engineer, my son, to innovate, design a system, use Chat GPT, and meet the company's needs. It is true that entry level software engineers are having great difficulty finding jobs, but we still need skilled engineers to work with AI, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Legislators really need to get started creating regulations so that the huge profits from AI start supplying a universal basic income and free education to folks.
