The point of an economy is supposed to be that we all don't have to work as much while still having our needs met. We're supposed to be aiming for that utopia where robots do the necessary menial labor while we spend our lives doing things we enjoy and making a better tomorrow for our children. Instead, we're just driving people further and further into poverty and everyone's working more and more. I'd say it's a failure of the system, but the system was never designed for our benefit. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the AI spends it's time making pictures while we spend our time at the cash register.
