AI isn't taking jobs, it's AI speculation that's taking jobs. AI has generally underperformed everywhere it's been implemented, with studies generally showing it makes workers less efficient (which the media should know, considering the high-profile embarrassments they've had). As the for the hype, it's largely driven by a mix of speculation, advertising/marketing, and bad assumptions about generative AI's current capabilities. All that said, the reporter(s) and pundit(s) for this story could easily lose their jobs to AI without anything of value being lost because their claims involve as much hallucination and shoddy information as AI.
