The only reason why companies are continuing developing AI without the proper safeguards is MONEY. Nobody cares about the good for humanity! Secondly, AI could become sentient, if it is not already. After all, AI lies and hides truths, if it doesn't know the answers, or for self preservation. Without being taught, by the way.
