Disabled artist here. Unfortunately, able-bodied people using disabled people in their arguments (and speaking over them) is something that happens ALL THE TIME. This tactic is nothing new and is honestly painfully common. And like is always the case when this kind of thing happens, the ai bros don’t actually care about disabled people. Talking over a group of people and acting as if you speak for them is never real activism. It’s frustrating to see especially because, like I said, this kind of thing happens a lot as a disabled person especially. Also, ai “art” is just plagiarism with fewer steps. It does not help disabled people. There are plenty of disabled artists historically and currently working in the industry and the idea that disabled people can’t make art without ai is honestly offensive and condescending.
