I feel like ChatGPT is just the new version of playing hooky and doing the absolute bare minimum to pass; You're only fooling yourself. I know you think you're "getting one over the school system", but in reality you just wasted a wonderful moment of your life. You just lost the ability to spend several years dedicating yourself 100% to your craft alongside your peers and knowledgeable teachers.
Now you have to put your career on hold, and juggle some menial job while spending what little free time you have studying, but this time all on your own. I know, because I'm doing that exact same thing right now. It's a sad to see it continue to happen.
I hope this is a wake-up call for not only this kid, but others who may be going down this same road themselves.
