As a Mental Health Counselor, I think if people can get low-cost advice from AI then they should do that. People will always want a human touch, but I think if something like that can help a person that can't afford it then it helps me achieve the mission of giving people the help they need.
Therapy is about what makes a person's life better and gives them the tools and peace of mind they need to navigate this thing we call life. I'd never knock a person for using their pastor for therapy any more than I'd knock them for talking to AI. I do think people should be fully aware of the risks when it comes to confidentiality, but AI is really good with evidence-based modalities and tries to assert that you should see a professional. Thank you for bringing attention to the potential concerns, I do hope people keep this in mind if they choose to go forward with using it that way.
