Everything AI does or creates is too generic. For example, enhanced black & white photos from the early days of photography. If you compare the original with the AI versions, subtleties of expression are lost. Every generation has a slightly different style of facial expression, caused by differences in working conditions, environmental factors such as breathing in coal smoke your whole life, the dieases they've suffered which we don't now, their diet. The list is pretty much inexhaustable. All this is wiped off by AI. The subjects look generically modern, they look well fed and healthy. And slightly plastic. This makes me angry because it's showing me a lie. When humans enhance photos, the subject still looked like themselves and I am free to "read" what these ghosts from "another country" have to say about themselves. Everything that is AI generate must be marked as such. We have a right to know what's real and what's not. Otherwise, what's the point of the internet?
