This IS different. Previous advances amplified human productivity. A.I. replaces humans. Along the way the government has lied consistently about the raw numbers of people not working. More time to spend with families that don't exist in this dysfunctional society, more creativity that will be rendered second or third class by a.i. more time to play mindless drone like games that condition people to be the unthinking, unquestioning drones that we already are becoming. People without purpose or reasons to even be alive. Meanwhile, the age old dream of the psychopaths who fancy themselves as superiors will gain mostly absolute control until they wake up and realize it's not enough. An environment of hedonism and indulgence will go into overdrive and suddenly the ever expanding a.i. will look at us as useless pets, because after all, it was programmed by the resentful and vengeant nerds that lived their entire lives with the passion of getting even, and we will be dispensed with. When does anyone err to the side of wisdom?
