Yeah, i don't even care about the tool argument. Its about copywrite, what if you had a magic brush that could copy any painting, just by touching it, but could do basically nothing without access to other art. You should not be able to copy write that unless it is fair use. Arguably current ai tools are just tacky rip-offs of oast art as you said in some very strange high dimensional space that combines them all. Current ai should not have any rights, because its function dependens 100% on past work, it is not creative at all, just a transformer. Chat gpt without human written texts is just as poor an ai as suggar is a cancer treatment. Its not going to generate anything at all without anything to train on. To be fair that also applies to humans in a sense, but we are much more creative. And fair use is about adding something valuable of your own and not depending on the work it is based on too much.
