disabled artist praying for the downfall of ai here! multiple symptoms of my disabilities make it harder to do art (joint instability and pain, tremor, frequent fatigue, executive dysfunction, etc.), but i will NEVER use ai “art”. besides it being incredibly ableist to claim it’s good for disabled people, as others have explained, i have many other disability-specific reasons to hate it. many disabled folks i know use their art as financial support, or are planning to. i myself hope to work in a creative field one day, even if my disabilities make drawing slightly harder, because i love art regardless, and also because those same symptoms make working in practically any workplace a (literal) pain. art is one of the most accessible option for many people like myself. however, as companies replace people with ai, disabled artists can lose their livelihood, and go through far more pain than art could ever demand. also, the only current economic impacts of ai are mass layoffs and furthering the wealth gap, so managing finances for disabled people keeps becoming more difficult. furthermore, the negative environmental impact of generative ai is astronomical, and disabilities often make it harder to tolerate the consequences, such as higher temperatures, bad air quality, or frequent and intense weather/air pressure changes. (speaking from experience here. summer sucks more and more each year, thanks climate change.) basically, ai sucks, and is making our lives harder. if you claim to care about us disabled folk, stop arguing for ai. thanks for making this video! your responses to the arguments are awesome, and i appreciate you actively inviting disabled people to speak on the topic for themselves. :))
