I really don't have any problems with AI as a tool, personally. I think you make a great argument for why AI creations are not final creations by any means, but they can certainly be used as a tool for creativity and inspiration much more than you are admitting. I also am not bothered by any artists who do whatever they can to prevent their art from being used for AI training because I understand why they're doing that. I don't think AI is a great original creator by any means and simply cannot replace humans in the creation process. It is merely a tool, and mainly one for brainstorming. Your assertion that we can no longer find the artist is also false since AI can just as easily be used to find those sources. If you talk to an AI trained to web and image search together, you should be able to ask it a question or series of questions to find sources and specific real artists. I've personally be using it to help me brainstorm ideas just because I'm usually very bad at the initial phase myself. The machine doesn't come up with really great ideas or ones the are instantly meaningful to me as a writer, but it gives me enough of an idea for me to become inspired and write my own. And actually, people may not realize that, but the amount of control and information it gives to individual creators makes it very anti-capitalist. The straight creations of AI are very odd and uninspired, but the human taking those as inspiration rather than a roadmap are still making their own creations. They are just now able to search for more specific criteria more easily than ever before.
