I am a 73 years old economist and a former CIO. I do hobby programming with help from Internet. As CIO Uwas always an early adopter, but my decisions were made after a pattern was becoming visible. To jump to hype stuff is dumbness most of the times. This is what happened.
But having said this, to not understand that models are evolving and will be more capable is a mistake.
Maintenance an issue? Hummm!! I doubt. I am converting a huge WPF App ,with horrendous code, to Blazor, and if I change something and one or more features stop working, in few minutes, the model(s) finds the issue and solves it.
Sometimes, I give some messy, complex and stupidly large methods in my WPF App to the models, and in few minutes again, I have a much better and readable code.
So, don't fool yourselves. The impact will be huge on IT.
Note - the advantage of an economist being a CIO, is that ROI matters, and if companies are not having returns with investment in AI, decisions have been irrational and not supported on realistic Business Plans
I think some kind of standardization will be found in order models follow some rules.
