Tip of the iceberg. No truck drivers means no truck stops and no jobs for anyone working at those locations. For the public, it means fewer clean rest rooms along highways and low-cost places to fill up or recharge your car or yourself. For those arguing human-run refueling stops will still be needed, the trucks will be modified to be refueled at mechanized, fully-automated truck stops. The only human jobs will be a few inspectors who drive around to each location to ensure the robots and their automated processes are working as intended, and a few overworked techs to make fixes and corrections as needed. The tech is impressive, but its longterm impacts and consequences less so.
