In the long run, this is good technology. The problem is we have to get rid of capitalism as we knew it because the abundance that civilization generates needs to be more equitably shared. And when that is the case, people will have more free time because they will have their needs met and not need to work as much. So automation will be great. But if only the owners of companies are able to have an income and all labor is automated, it obviously devastating for workers. People will eventually realize this. Hopefully before major problems.
