We've all been thinking about AI since not just college, but in high school and earlier. Anyone that has seen 2001: A Space Odyssey has thought long and hard about AI. I was not old enough to be in kindergarten when Space Odyssey was released, and I was probably 10 or 11 when I saw it for the first time. I've been thinking about AI ever since.
Elon is great, but he's not a prophet, and knows no more or less about what will come of AI than anyone else.
