So it behooves them and other people involved keep humans involved, real people with ability to better asses and adapt to situation and resolve such situations where an A.I is getting stuck because it ran into something that doesn't fit or match it's programming. In the case of these trucks or cars like Waymo it would seem to me that you offer the drivers the opportunity to take a different position in the company where people are more needed like mechanic for the vehicles or programmers.
