I think these companies learned not everyone was on board with the fluffy nice assistant marketing so now they're leaning into our own fears of AI based on decades of sci-fi horror to get us to "adapt or die" when simply minimizing your use of it and doing more things offline is an option for most people even though it is harder. It's also a lot easier to deny any accountability or liability when your product hurts others when you can be like, "oopsie we made a horror beyond our comprehension we can't control sorry :( " instead of being honest saying "Yeah we messed up training it. We are rushing our product out without guard rails to stay competitive. We care more about our company's growth than the public's health & wellbeing. It'd cost too much time & money to redo it so..." The AI bubble will pop eventually and laws will catch up. I don't want to live in fear of AI but, I don't like how it's being forced onto us either. It's a tool with no real thoughts, emotions or, goals other than what we put into it. It can be used for good or evil. It can't create really it can only copy. In the future we will look back at this time in history with disgust for what a few rich individuals did to other people and our ecosystem even if there are positives we will gain from it. The way those few rich jerks treat others is far worse than what a robot could do. Humans survived the industrial revolution before we can survive this now. We need to love & support those most vulnerable to AI addictions and losing their jobs due to companies using AI now. Also if you can afford to please support real human artists & craftsmen it would be so sad if we lost the arts & crafts we have now especially the ones endangered by the last industrial revolution that survived it. We need to protect & preserve the good parts of our current cultures for future generations.
