I think you artist are really scared of losing your jobs and you're trying to find something to hang on to, to validate your point of view. I am scared, too, as an IT guy but I would never say "the AI can code because a lot of coders put their code on github". But we all know, artists have always been entitled (some of them, rightfully so). Imagine Giotto's descendants complaining because someone created an AI image "by Giotto"... I once used to believe artists created art because of an inner voice, an inner need to express themselves, no matter what but I must accept the fact that, nowadays, they are just interested in money. I am sure the argument could be settled if any artist whose name is used in Stable Diffusion gets some cents each time... PS just FYI, on youtube people are profiting re-posting original videos of other creators... what's the difference, here? PPS now you whine about "AI scraping social media" but you did like it when social media brought huge audiences to your art...too bad, social media become owners of everything you post there and can do whatever they want with it. Nobody can blame nobody for not being a fortune teller but... you got the pros, now you get the cons. This is the same thing I think when I look at some Instragram profiles: people putting pictures of themselves in every possible pose and situation... it wouldn't take much effert to create a LORA model of any of them and do some pretty nasty deep-fakes. Hint for the future: read the fucking EULA. PPPS you really under-estimate yourselves if you think Stable Diffusion or Dall-E can put you in the corner... try asking the AI to "paint" someone doing something to someone else... most of the times you get ridiculous results.
