the only ai i use as an artist is artbreeder ,specifically to get a more realistic face for my ocs using the face slider feature. and only on my personal ref sheets. i am mainly a comic artist but i started with realism, i like to have a realistic image to look back at before i spend 12 hours on a realistic painting. AI COULD be an amazing tool for artists, for custom refs, quick concepts to visualise for artists with aphantasia, refining lower res art for beginner artists who dont have the tech or skillset yet but still want to post their art. however ai must evolve, not just the way its used, but HOW its used. ive spent ages moving each individual slider and watch the image change in real time, ajusting every value and setting to get it almost perfect. thats a process. the ai REQUIRES human adjustment to look even remotely ok. artbreeder existed as tool for artists BEFORE the AI boom. however the change in how people use ai has unfortunately tainted artbreeder. (they added text to image i just refuse to use it) oh also a very very fun experiment is feeding the same ai image back to itself over and over with the same prompt just phased differently. it can corrupt the prompt entirely if you do it enough.
