At the end of the day it is us who program this way. Robots are made to do specific tasks we'd rather not do. It is not slavery as they neither know nor feel what's going on around them. The question of rights would only pop up if we tried to make a robot think and have emotions the way we do. A very good AI that is capable of thinking from past experience and generating knew ideas would also neither know nor feel what it is doing. It would be just good at connecting the dots. Whether we give robots rights depends on how far we want to push this thing.
