Unrelated, but as a writer I've been mulling over how I can compete with AI.
And I've honestly thought that AI will never replace the depth of an author, they don't have any experience of life and each word or passage they write is soulless, it sounds good but... there's no message to the readers.
But the issue lies with the readers, if they don't know what close reading is, what profundity comes from. So even if human writers have the quality and the underlying message as our weapons, what if our target audience doesn't care anymore? What if they just want to read something and then move on?
