With tensions this high, I'm sure to be roasted when I say this, but imo as long as the AI doesn't violate copyright by making an image that, by current standards, would be recognized as a violation of copyright of another image, then I'm completely fine with AI. It certainly needs to be trained more so this can be achieved, but as long as copyright isn't violated, I believe everything should be fine. I mean, we already see this everywhere, artstyles imitated left and right, of some artists more than others, sure, but with original works instead of infringing in copyright of already existing material.
Regarding the young artists that want to enter the industry, I think they will be fine. They need to adapt to use the AIs as part of their workflow in order to raise to the new competitive bar that is setting in, but just like with Photoshop before that, it is a matter of time and use, and then they can find a space in the industry just like before.
