But it doesn't matter anymore because the reaction from many of them has essentially "killed" any AI that scrapes their site now. There are methods in use across the internet now meant to "poison" any AI that attempts to scrape the site using one of these methods. Beyond that, their own hallucinations are going to ruin them for at least the next decade because if they "scrape" one another for more data, their own hallucinations will propagate and corrupt their data. And speaking from the future, that is exactly what has happened. When I search for something, it's not the original google style search anymore, it's AI based search and it spits out 1 relevant thing for 20 irrelevant things. Even on the project Gutenberg website. If I search for T E Lawrence (The real man nicknamed Lawrence of Arabia) it gives me D H Lawrence and a bunch of authors names that seem to have nothing to do with him. When I search for something I want and it doesn't grasp the "prompt" it gives me a textually vomitous page of unrelated information. That said, it is a good tool when used properly. If it is badly used (and it has been) it causes a dramatic drop in understanding and learning. There are studies that show that this is a real thing and you can see it in the short videos of many, many TikTok and Instagram users. Don't allow it to do your thinking for you.
