Manipulating language, math, and images is what LLMs do now. They're taking a shit ton of jobs away from young 'apprentice' knowledge workers. All bad for them, great for corporations, that game is afoot. It will go where it does. But *Superintelligence(TM)* ? That's midaeval theology. It's a meaningless extrapolation of something into something different. This SmartGuy presents no pathway to get there, with or without LLMs. Will there be one based on experiential learning methods? Maybe. But we don't even have any ideas for how to get there, let alone a viable path forward to SI. It's a conflation of knowledge and symbols. The hierarchy of meaning from Level 1 (human thought) through Level 2 (language) to Level 3 (the raw manipulation of words as objects - what LLMs do) is being forgotten here, leading us to an epistemological failure and meaningless drivel. What's being said in these arguments is "ignore what's real and where logic can take you, get your panties all in a wad because of how very awful it would be if...
