I think the real problem with this discussion is that art really becomes this super vague and pretentious thing at its core. There’s so many goofy ass forms of art, weird expressionist bs. I really can’t get behind this end all be all approach Charlie has to the ai art topic. I think it’s cancerous for anyone who is trying to be creative, delegitimizing what I do see as artistic in some sense. As a huge fan of psych rock and trippy imagery there have been some very great bizarre and trippy pieces of seen that were either ai assisted or completely made by ai, music videos or ig accounts or whatever. Quite literally any form of expression a human makes can be seen as a form of art if u are pretentious enough about it. So I reject Charlie’s ideas about ai art. Typing some shit into a prompt and tryna make money off it is extremely lazy yes. And yes you aren’t an artist, like physically one who can draw or paint or whatnot. But you did have an idea and u used a tool to express it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Create art, let ppl judge it, create more art. This is the essence of art. So I mean u are free to feel whatever you want to about it. Some of us feel differently. That’s what is beautiful about art. We all have our own interpretations. Idk 🤷🏽‍♂️ just saying be more open minded to the possibles of ai in assisting humans in creating new, unique and interesting forms of art. I’m not trying to defend lame lazy losers like this guy. I just don’t like this generalization that anything ever made by ai cannot be art or artistic in some degree or have some sort of beauty to it. Like truly what is art am I right? 😂
