That being said, the industry is like many other industries that are struggling with workers who want more to deliver less. Many worker segments complain of not being able to make a "Living wage" or "Make a living at this" and that is in large part due to the excessive thirst for MORE! People today complain about conditions that just 50 years ago would have been a dramatic "God send" to their lives. It is true that "The more you have , the more you want" and that more than anything has driven the current climate of automation. Workers want to be paid more so they can buy more, but this is not coupled with excelling at the job. Instead we have seen a dramatic down turn in worker effeminacy, quality and productivity, which are all needed to increase wages. Companies have a responsibility to investors and that includes the publicly traded companies that fuel retirement account like the ever popular 401K. There is more at stake here than the giant salaried of a few executives, there is the idea of the American worker not competing with foreign workers who are far more efficient and affective. No one wants to lose their job to a Robot, but they create the condition under which the Robot can win every time. McDonalds automated their drink filling station and saved an average of $121K per year per store, that's hundreds of millions that are then added to the bottom line. Those systems are extremely expensive, so how does it make sense? That machine is not going to call in sick on a whim, start a fight with other employees or customers, steal money, cause an accident then file a lawsuit, run away customers due to poor customer skills and much more. When American workers realize this is a war they brought on themselves and respond the way an overweight person would who wants to lose pounds, then and only then can this trend be stopped. You first have to admit you are part of the problem and stop saying it's greed so you don't have to face the fact that you are fat because you eat too much Pizza and Ice Cream.
