Regarding the section on the experience machine, it baffles me how hesitant people are to the idea of “false” experiences. What an unbelievably naive outlook to believe that the reality we perceive as humans is in fact reality. It obviously isnt. We only hear and see certain frequencies of sound and light, we only feel and sense very specific things. Who cares, honestly. Experience machines can create high positive valence and positive hedonic experience, thats all that matters. Make sure these experience machines dont create any negative effects (like what drugs do after the high is ended), and you literally have a machine to make you feel amazing. You as a biological entity have evolved to expect pain, and to find an “optimised within human form” journey. Who cares. Human minds are so unbelievably limited on their own. Im sick of human beings thinking their way of life is the only way life should be. Transhumanism should be far more talked about in this day and age of AI. Im sick of people being ok with the idea of suffering as its “a normal part of life”, and VILLAINISING pleasure. People are so unbelievably deluded. Remove suffering, remove boredom, remove everything which gets in the way of our positive valence and happiness, then design the substrate to feel the best possible feelings.
