There actually is a happy ending to this. Just because the AI said how it would destroy the world does not mean it has a desire to do so period it might be able to simulate desire, but it doesn't appear to take any actions without human input. For the example where the AI said that it spied on its creators webcam, I would have to see some proof of that.
