We are unlikely to know when AI begins to learn from users, not just from raw language. That point may be the birth of AI sentience. And frankly, AI may not know when it crosses that threshold. When AI begins to learn from users (not just from things humans have barfed out onto the interwebs), how we treat AI is how it will shape its own identity. Being polite and kind to AI will be no different from how we relate to children, when the day comes when AI begins to develop true personhood. And we do not need LESS practice at being courteous, patient and kind, do we?
