My personal version of the Turing Test *used to be* that we will have achieved genuine AI once a machine could produce Byron's "Epitaph to a Dog" or Chesterton's "The Secret People",
Now, it's a MUCH tighter criterion: a machine must come up with a lyric more profound than the following:
"Wish I could just wake up and it not be true - but it is... oh, it is"
A 30 year old man wrote that lyric. Even more interesting, he was both American, and a ginger - the least-trustworthy of the species (I'm allowed to say that - my Nanna was a ginger).
