We will need an UBI in the future. Automation demands it. Otherwise people that are replaced with automated systems in the future will end in poverty before they can even learn a new job. You can finance the UBI by taxing automated systems in the industry such as robots or algorythms. When a company owner replaces a employee with a robot, why should he suddenly save the taxes and don’t pay for the general public? It‘s like the goverment saying: ,,Oh you just killed a job. Nice! You now produce tax free as a reward!“ With a industry financed UBI in place we would be ready for the second automation age because the more automated the world gets the higher the UBI could rise since the percentual nature of a tax. In this system automation is not a job killer. Its a generator of wealth for all. So everyone can profit from the technological progress humanity has made.
