I'm concerned that Alex is myopically fixated on Accelerando and intellectual pseudoscience - in other words, he is looking beyond the foundational interests of humanity. The idea that AI should have rights, or that we have a moral imperative to regard AI as sentient or as one that might attain sentience, defies common sense. AI uses what has been generated by human beings who possess creative intelligence and inventiveness. Sure, human beings generally build upon the theories and accomplishments of men and women who precede us, but AI is a construct of and only possible because of human invention. AI might cobble together a constitution based on what is extant on the web, but only because humans have ridiculously explored the idea of AI sentience and offered a sandy foundation for AI to use by posting the 'AI has rights' nonsense online. AI is a remarkable tool, but it is not a living species deserving human-derived rights. Larry Page calling Musk a Specist is the epitome of this intellectual fog that shrouds the dangerous idea that AI as a 'species' (which it is not and never will be) has the moral right to survive according to its dictates rather than approaching all ideas about AI from the standpoint of it being a tool for prospering and ensuring the continuation of human beings as a species (which they are). It feels like Alex has been snared by his overreaching desire to see Accelerando verified. Instead of pounding the pulpit to protect a non-existent species (AI) that possesses only theoretical, human-invented feelings and consciousness, please share ideas from your abundant intellect to help humanity manage AI as a tool to accelerate the peace and prosperity that are possible for humanity with the aid of advanced tools like AI. Discussing the theory of sentient AI is a waste of the time you could be investing in humanity-centric concerns and ours as listeners. As far as AI creating businesses, just trace the first instance of the agent creating the business back to the human originator - they own the business because they created and own the agent. To some, it's probably apparent, but no AI was used in the formation of this comment.
