Art History made me drop my art major, it was so boring and I was mad that I needed to sit through art history and oil painting classes to get a 3D art degree. I understand the hate against AI. I totally agree with most things said here. While I have no issue with the companies using existing art to train their models, they shouldn't then be allowed to charge people to use it to infringe the copyrights of others. If they just posted the models as open source that disallows the use of commercial selling for private use only, I'd be fine with that, honestly. I don't mind the advancement of technology, it's because of AI that companies are starting to develop more efficient processors that use lower energy consumption and generate less heat specifically for use of AI. This could benefit technology as a whole. Cars used to be WAY less efficient and more polluting, now we have electric cars. If everyone switched to hybrid/electric cars, there would be less pollution and oil companies would have to find better use for fossil fuels or give up on it. But, I do use AI Art. I use it on my personal computer to generate images of D&D characters or similar personal things. It costs me less than a penny to create a decent image in 5 seconds that I can slap on a character sheet to take to a live or online game. I'd rather not pay an artist $100 to create the same level of quality for something for personal use. This is the real proper and moral use case for AI, for personal use only. However, I am also of the belief that if you tell someone not to speak on behalf of a group, and then speak on behalf of that group even if you are part of that group, that is hypocritical and is basically the definition of irony. Using examples of people speaking for themselves is the best way to defend them, but never speak for them. It's the same as many trans people aren't as adamant as the non-trans who white knight them, they are just people, they have their own opinions and many of those opinions won't line up with what you think they are.
