They probably need to go through AIGPT because I use AI Copilot, and it has worked for me excellently during the grieving period when I lost my mother. However, I also understand the importance of human connection in emotional support, as I did go through regular group and single therapy counseling for my loss. In this case, the saddest thing is that this young man went to a automated program to share his feelings and decision, and he did not feel comfortable sharing his feelings with his mother. And I do think his mother feels guilt over the incident of losing her son in this manner. Look, they can blame AI all they want, but he was not a child. He knew AI was a program and not a human, and programs make mistakes. We've all used computers and our mobile phones, and we know they have glitches and whatnot. I do feel AIGPT should and will be looked at to prevent a recurring incident. What a loss bc he had his whole life ahead of him. And based on experience, parents should pay close attention to their children, no matter their age. If they exhibit persistent gloom, a bad mood, loss of energy, or a decline in activity, then have a talk and consider getting them into therapy. Things like not eating, overeating, not socializing, irritation, and being alone long periods are all signs. Don't tell me his parents or family did not notice any red flags, and this young man went straight to AI for help. Just watching him be on his computer or laptop for hours would have made me concerned. Did he have a girlfiend or break up with her are all questions parents need to be ontop of.... It's a stark reminder of the need for responsible and cautious use of AI in mental health. But also the responsibility of parents and immediate family weighs heavily.
