A lot of fear mongering on both sides. Thought that would be quite ironic if an AI catastrophe would be stopped thanks to the death of Moor's law and the Von Neumann bottleneck we are trying to fight for decades. Jokes aside, there are plenty of things that can be said on the matter. First one being that China doesn't need AI to destroy humanity, it's doing a great job at that everyday already. Second, I don't think that's pretty hard to convince politicians than the threat of THEM being replaced by AI in the future is quite real and thus regulation is needed. Let's hope the super AI being will be more like Deus Ex's Helios and not like X-Files's C.O.S.
