I wonder how many of these comments are actual bots or AI sent out just to persuade people that AI art is a real/good thing. I think my favorite comment I saw recently was someone saying that “with AI people don’t have to waste time trying to learn to make art because the process is slow and frustrating, and they don’t really like doing it anyway, and that now they can just use AI, and be less strange/sad people, with more time to socialize, since only odd people end up making art anyway.” When people obviously mocked this brain dead take they said that “English isn’t their first language so let me see if I can get ChatGPT to explain it better,” and had ChatGPT basically say the same brainrot thing that they already had. I get that some people are going to fight for AI no matter what since they are lazy, don’t have a smidge of imagination, wonder, or creativity, but I think what’s so shocking to me is how MANY people feel this way, and are basically just like “you had a good run artists, we don’t want/need you anymore, this is progress.” I’ll be making art until I’m in the ground. Even if everyone else in the world wants to call themselves an artist, while only using AI to “create.” I’ll still be the old guy waving his fist at “these people that just don’t get it!” 😂
