7:45 ish, i find this a very interesting topic as well. lots of people would say to me, when i would speak against Gen AI, “no one cared about Google Translate replacing translators” as well as a lot of other examples where tech has replaced humans.
but yknow what? google translate is not that good. a human translator would be much better at extracting the true meaning from another language than the sterile attempts of google. it’s made me more empathetic towards those who do the more “mundane” jobs. some people do have passions for different things and i know so many people who are passionate about language. maybe not packing boxes, but yeah we. do need those easier jobs too
