Ideally keep the employees and they embrace AI to enhance productivity. Those unwilling or unable to integrate AI in their workflow will not keep up, get laid off and get replaced by someone who can. They also need the original skill because AIs still screw things up and/or write unmaintainable and/or insecure code. Companies who keep all their employees regardless are bad - they will have problems with the board and shareholders. Companies who recklessly fire their most expensive employees confident AI can pick up the slack are more bad and will utterly implode. Companies that keep the same workforce size but shift it to people able and willing to integrate AI into their workflow and efficiently review and correct AI output will be the winners.
