I agree with 100% of what you think of AI and how awful it is, but you lost me with the crack at diversity quotas, and it gradually got worse from there. Nonbinary people are cool and friendly, and all of the ones I know IRL are extremely talented and fun to hang out with. They're not elites pushing for slop to be made and scolding people for making tiny mistakes. All the nonbinary and trans people I know (myself included) are struggling and working retail to make rent and get away from their parents like all of us, terrified of AI ruining their job prospects to the point where a lot of them are demotivated from even considering art school (toilet paper degrees indeed), and mostly doing stuff for fun in the local scene. By the way, Disney is actively cutting trans/enby representation from stuff because they're scared of offending conservatives. It is insanely hard for queer people to make it in both the art and music industries, let alone tell the stories they want to tell. They face so much scrutiny and gatekeeping, and business suit types telling them to water themselves down. I know this from experience. I realize _you_ might've had a bad experience with people being oversensitive and reporting each other to HR, but I feel like a massive big bucks media company full of red tape shouldn't be telling stories about queer people unless it's being made _by_ queer people that they've hired, otherwise it's very easy to see it for what it is - hollow "fellow kids"-style pandering that fumbles at what it intends to do. "Snowflake and Safespace" come to mind. Meanwhile you can look at a project from an indie team like Mandlebrot Hall, and immediately see that it's genuine representation, by and for queer people and not concerned with mass market appeal and tiptoeing around foreign markets and investors that need to be kept happy. Also Jackson Pollock _is_ kinda dumb but you're leaning a little close to the stereotype of the twitter guy who posts the bust of Antinous next to the stupid modern art toilet thing or graffiti and says "remember when we made _real_ art? the legacy and heritage of western civilization is irrevocably tarnished" and then gets a million likes. Also... it _is_ terrifying that AI taking people's jobs will leave them directionless... But the study you cited about Universal Basic Income leading to laziness comes from the Foundation for Economic Education, which is a conservative & libertarian think tank that regularly pushes stuff about how income inequality isn't real, and many other obviously incorrect things in the guise of "just asking common sense questions." Most studies show that people use the money for groceries and medical expenses, and the only noticeable effect on employment is parents cutting back on work to spend more time with their kids. People will always be driven to find work and make things they're passionate about like you said. I think there's some hope, though. I think the hype-men pushing AI into everything are going to crash out as people become more aware of how toxic datacenters are to towns (Memphis is the prime example), and how the whole thing is inextricably tied to actual snobbish elites like Elon Musk and Sam Altmann who've talked about how they think they're building some kind of god. It's a whole other terrifying can of worms how many people there are who think they can talk to God through ChatGPT. one last thing - as a trans woman, the estrogen I take has filled out my receding hairline with brand-new hairs over the course of the past three years. so lmao take that hehehe
