For artists who are worried like I once was until I inhaled a copius amount of copium;
I don't think there's a need to worry. Sure, commision art and logo design will be completely taken over Ai but there's one field the AI can't dominate without the asssistance of real experienced artist. And thats story-based art.
AI could generate pretty pictures, yes that's true. But that's all it can do, nothing more. When used for a project that requires a great understanding of context behind the art and its design elements, it falls off and ultiumately just becomes a tool to do the tedious stuff no artist wants to do.
You think AI could think the same way Rinotuna does? Or replicate the narrative expertise of Makoto Shinkai? Marc Brunet does a lot of illustrations that tells a narrative that I don't think a normal person can make without experience. Doing narrative-based art and making it look and feel good is something only an artist can do.
Artists will just simply move on to a more expressionist approach, a new art movement in the modern days.
Lets look at a much brighter side of AI and the possibilities of the future:
-first, companies will start popping up after seeing the potential of AI art
-The art scene will be completely saturated by AI art and people will get tired of it
-Art communities that embrace AI art will start doing projects
-They realize that talented artist are still needed to judge and control the AI and the decision making of the project.
-There will be a huge art boom and demand for art is sky rocket
-More companies will pop up and demand for artists will increase
-There will be no more artists working on commisions as they will start working on companies that'll give them a more stable income (and commission work will be taken by AI and used by non-artists)
-Non-artists will still not get hired and won't be able to work on art projects as they have no knowledge regarding the subject
At this point, we'll enter the era of art becoming a mainstream profession. Everyone can make art but not everyone can work without proper training.
-Companies like Dreamworks, Pixar or Disney will no longer have a complete monopoly on western animation as more animation companie will appear as a result of the art boom
-Getting into an animtion company will be much much easier
-As a result, we will have SO MUCH more art!
-Animation quality will improve dratically
Imagine if every anime you've ever watched is in the same level as ufotable, that'll be insane!
For so long, art quality has been stagnant and the amount of animated movies with amazing animation is pretty limited. Now artists will have a safe place where they have a steady income, and people will have so much more quality content to watch.
So join me to the path of animation! And utilize AI art to its full potential while honing our skills!
