Unlike the US AI systems the Chinese ones are open source, anyone can basically copy and paste then edit. If we were to fund a UK EU version it might not cost a lot, as much of the work at least for the current AI is for free. Then our companies are not dependant on china/us, we could even use a public one for the NHS and licence the health data to bring extra income for the NHS
