It's very easy to defend against super intelligence, you just rig the grid to disconnect physically from a secret point using explosives - or something else. You make these points in strategic locations and when the time comes you power down the country. Only humans and animals can thrive without power. You could even have these areas public knowledge with security, so that in the event of a war with AI - any member of the public could power down the grid at any time. If nobody resets a switch there it powers down automatically. There's no way AI wins without electricity.
