*Long comment alert! 🚨* For anyone arguing that artists being inspired by other artists and AI making pictures that imitates someone's artwork is the same: *copying someone else and taking credit for not your work is simply wrong, no matter if you are a human or a machine* That having said, although theft is a theft, humans who copy others artwork or imitate others style 1. at least have to dedicate a lot of work and time to learn how to do it. To learn how to draw you have to spend a lot of years and even when you are a pro it takes you some time to create something new. Now, I don't know how much time is needed to learn how to use Midjourney, but certainly it doesn't take as long and when you already know how to use it, you can create a lot of pictures very fast. Humans, even the fastest and the best ones cannot compete with such fast pace of work and because of that they can't offer such low prices; 2. because they are humans not machines, many of the copied artworks can be easily distinguished from the original ones as they are inferior. That having said I have to admit that since AI is still not that good very often it's not that hard to tell if you are looking at something created by AI when you look closely (e.g. weirdly looking hands- too much fingers ot too few) ; 3. if they are posting their work on social media there is a high chance that someone will notice that they are stealing from other artist and they will get called out for that and suffer at least some consequences. I don't think it's a case with "AI artists"; 4. most people who sell their works don't literally copy others, even if they are inspired by someone else, they still make it a lot different and their own. Let me be clear, I don't like it when people copy others and present that art as their own. But AI already poses a threat to many artists and mind you, it is still developing. So no, imho it will never be the same.
