I'm finding all of this a bit stupid (sorry): people thinking their computers are talking to them are not doing well. Clearly the problem is with how corporations are using the technology but it is an excellent point that AI should never be allowed to give the false impression that it is human, or that it has consciousness, or rights, or feelings. People think AI is their best friend ... or that AI is Jesus! The stories about teenagers sharing suicidal ideation with AI - which may contribute to bad outcomes - is horrific. - Who knows what else is going on?!
