Unfortunately, people rarely read TOS when they sign up for online systems where they give up lots of their rights for what they share and they agree to it by clicking or pressing the checkbox. Artists think those AI companies go and visit those public websites and download the content created by artists and let the machine train on it. The reality is even more striking. Web Platforms allow AI companies scavenge the content by APIs continously. They forgot the Github CoPilot actually can browse through private repositories and on dark web dev forums it is reported the latest API changes to those platforms have uncovered the truth. It is though even deeper than foul play between two companies. According to claims this is somehow incentivized by bigger agencies. I don't know what is really going on but I become more n more scared the more I searched about the global powers' intervention on the whole subject (not only art but also software devving, writing etc)
