Can we stop being so fucking dramatic? Is AI going to end Art? NO its fucking not. Honestly who cares in 20 years if digital artists on Artstation have been replaced? Do you think someone creating waifu-art and a 100 pictures that look the same as 100 other digital artists holds that much value or cant be replaced? Or that we should collectively do everything so these people can cling to their existence? You know how many professions this happened to in recent human history? Do you think programming will remain something only done by humans? Call me callous or whatever but I think shrieking about how YOU are affected by something and demanding "ethical" behaviour because the evil people are destroying your tiny eden is not something I can endorse. Not everything is going to stay the way it does. AI is not going to extinguish Art. The AI can only exist in a world of humans. The AI itself has no incentive to create Art. In the end it is still a human that works with the AI. If you think AI Art is at a fundamental level different to "real" Art, even photography, that just shows your lack of imagination what can be done with AI. How its images can inspire. How not every fucking worthless recreation of an anime girl or whatever the fuck is art but if you want something worthwhile it takes a process. It takes time. It takes dedication. If I spend 80 hours searching for the perfect image. Tweaking the model, touching up on it. Is that art or not? And am I an artist or not? Is a director an Artist? Are you all fucking idiots? And we are only at the beginning of using this potential. But people like you want to restrict it immediately. Because egocentrically to the artist, there little center of the universe is enough justification, that so when it is threatened action is demanded to secure it. Narrow-minded, empty-headed emotional appeals that even destroy what legitimate foundation might be there. Humans constantly rip off each other as well. The current flood of AI Art is saturated with boring derivative nonsense. We are at the beginning of the S-curve of this technology. We cant immediately strangle it because we feel fear. But go ahead with your doom and gloom. Make your present hell as well in your mind.
