It already has Bernie. It was already happening before AI. AI just accelerated an existing trend. Proper regulation (which most of it isn't) can mitigate the problem, but the real root is social in nature. It is the obsession with profit that has led to this. That's a much harder problem to solve because you can't legislate against it.
