I think the problem in understanding the limits of LLms is that most of these people that are in awe of LLMs have never really gone down a path of trying to build true expertise in an area. If you do software development, and you ask an LLM for something it's clear that is spitting out a template of something it found on Reddit, forum, etc.. just transformed. But it will never present a clever way to solve a new problem. It's very handy indeed, but not brilliant. Same with music. The AI generated stuff it's clearly just a combination of different pieces with nothing new to say. LLMs will always be at the limit of human knowledge and by definition they can't really go beyond it.
