Sites like DeviantArt are in a unique position to turn AI generation into an opportunity for artists. Allow users to opt in for a share in whatever profits that AI makes. The trickiest part in all of this is figuring out how close an AI rendered image needs to be to an artist's work to count as plagiarism. Would asking an AI to draw a specific character in a specific artist's style count as plagiarism? On one end, I could see that as a loss of a commission, but on the other, it's not like the artist had to put in any additional labor for the AI to replicate their style. It's very tricky, and the technology has come before we've settled the morality of it all.
